Most prefinished boards are coated overseas and shipped to Australia which means lead times of up to 3 months or more. We coat our boards locally using Vesting Hard Wax Oil and cure them with an LED system that hardens the wax oil instantly. Hard wax oil vs. lacquer. What’s the difference?

With so many different floor coating processes, understanding their differences can be overwhelming. To make things simple, floor coatings can be broken down into two groups: lacquers and varnishes that add a protective film on top of the timber and waxes and oils that saturate the timber’s natural, microscopic gaps leaving no room for dirt or other contaminants.

For you, the real difference is in how the floor feels. Because lacquer sits on top of the timber, your floor will feel completely smooth underfoot. Floors coated with a hard wax oil let you feel the timber it protects.

Led Curing Vs Uv Curing

Without getting too technical, both curing systems use a select spectrum of light to harden the coating. Unlike UV varnishes, our hard wax oil is a natural product with special activators that react to LED light. No fumes and no waiting. You can walk on our boards immediately.
